Sri Lanka ‘A’ beat Ireland ‘A’ to win Tri-Nation Title

Sri Lanka ‘A’ registered a convincing win over Ireland ‘A’ in the final of One Day Tri-Series played in Abu Dhabi.   

Sri Lanka ‘A’ skipper Sadeera Samarawickrama won the toss and invited the Irish team to bat first. The Sri Lankans yet again produced a brilliant bowling effort to restrict Ireland ‘A’ to just 200 runs. 

The ambidextrous spinner Tharindu Rathnayake continued his brilliant form with the ball, snaring 4 wickets for 33 runs. The speedster Milan Rathnayake also impressed with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 24 runs.  

In reply, Sri Lanka ‘A’ were in dire straits losing half of the side for just 43 runs. However, Pavan Rathnayake and Milan Rathnayake rescued the innings, adding a match-winning unbeaten partnership worth 160 runs for the 6th wicket.  

Pavan scored 77 runs off 76 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes while Milan hit 77 runs off 83 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes. Milan who displayed an incredible all-round performance to guide Sri Lanka ‘A’ to victory, won the player of the final award.
